When the IRS determines a tax deficiency, you can bet that a tax penalty is not far behind. From failure to file or pay to fraud to trust fund recovery penalties, the IRS has used its ability to impose penalties with vigor. This course will cover the most common tax penalties, how to protect a client from such penalties on the front end, and how to defend your client after penalties have been asserted.
Up In Smoke: The Ethical and Tax Implications from the Legalization of Marijuana (2 hours)
The convergence of federal and state law on the distribution and use of marijuana raises numerous legal issues for growers, distributors, marijuana users and attorney advisors, among us. This course will examine how interested parties navigate the legal haze surrounding the booming industry with a particular focus on the how the Rules of Professional Conduct and the tax code are implicated.
